Australia and Oceania-Circum-Pacific Map Project's Tectonic, Mineral-Resources, and Energy-Resources Maps of the Southwest Quadrant

The Australia and Oceania part of the Southwest Quadrant was the starting point for designing all the sheets of the Circum-Pacific Map Project's Tectonic Map. Oceanic crustal areas reflecting episodes of sea-floor creation are contrasted with active plate boundaries and associated terranes, and with passive continental margin units. Major continental units are basement domains, transitional basins, and platform cover. Within these units, ages of deformation, metamorphism, and igneous rock emplacement are highlighted.
