Energy resources map of the Circum-Pacific region, northeast quadrant and explanatory notes

Book ·
OSTI ID:5366883

A map and explanatory bilingual (English and Spanish) booklet were produced by the Circum-Pacific Map Project, a cooperative international effort. The map - the first in a series of five overlapping 1:10,000,000 scale energy-resources map sheets - is designed to show the geological relationships of known energy and mineral resources of the Pacific basin and bordering continental regions, including western North America and Hawaii. Other maps in the Circum-Pacific region series will be the (1) northeast, (2) southwest, (3) southeast, and (4) Antarctic sheets. Information depicted on the multi-colored map includes generalized geological data such as stratigraphic columns for major basins, onshore basin isopachs, offshore sediment isopachs, locations of hot springs, oil and gas fields, oil sands, oil shales, coal deposits, and geothermal energy sites. Active plate boundaries are shown in red. Bathymetry and sediment isopachs, basement igneous intrusives, volcanic cover, and deformed sedimentary fold belts are also depicted. The Circum-Pacific Map project coordination and final cartography are by the US Geological Survey.
