This paper presents an assessment of air pollution from mobile sources. It focuses on an estimation of adverse effects of diesel and gasoline emissions within urban regions in developing countries, where emission and ambient information is highly uncertain. The authors report on continuing efforts of an international program to define and contribute to the solution of air quality problems in the Mexico City region (Zona Metroplitiana de la Cuidad de Mexico, ZMCM).
