Top quarks produced in the reaction [ital e][sup +][ital e][sup [minus]][r arrow][ital t[bar t]] are predicted to have a strong spin-spin correlation. We show that this correlation reflects itself in a strong energy correlation of the charged leptons produced in the decays [ital t][r arrow][ital bl][sup +][nu][sub [ital l]] ([ital [bar t]][r arrow][ital [bar b]l][sup [minus]][bar [nu]][sub [ital l]]). Analytical expressions are given for the two-dimensional distribution [ital d][sigma]/[ital dxdx][prime] where [ital x] and [ital x][prime] are scaled energy variables of [ital l][sup +] and [ital l][sup [minus]]. In the presence of a [ital CP]-violating term in the [ital e][sup +][ital e][sup [minus]][r arrow][ital t[bar t]] amplitude, this correlation acquires an antisymmetric component which is also calculated. Our formalism yields compact expressions for the single-particle energy spectra of [ital l][sup +] and [ital l][sup [minus]] and the asymmetry between them.
