General Electric has added the LM2500 to its heavy industrial gas turbine product line for oil and gas pipeline, process, and in-house power generation applications. The gas turbines are rated at 27,500 hp or 20,500 kW on natural gas fuel with 37 percent simple cycle efficiency. As of January 1, 1977 GE has integrated its corporate gas turbine product lines to package and sell aero derivative and heavy gas turbines to the industrial market through a newly formed ''Industrial Gas Turbine Programs'' department. A description is given of the various research programs.
