General Electric`s LM2500+ gas turbine, which will be available with both low-speed and high-speed power turbines, is intended for the power generation and mechanical-drive markets. GE considers it ideal for compressor drive applications. The two-shaft LM2500+ is expected to be applied in the industrial and commercial marine markets: various 50-and 60-Hz power generation applications, pipeline compression, gas injection, and fast ferry commercial marine service. Emission controls available from the introduction of the LM2500+ will include water or steam injection using a standard combustor or M&IE`s Dry Low Emissions (DLE) combustion system. The HSPT performance is designed to match the increased mass flow and gas power at the gas generator exit. HSPT performance predictions are based on the results of full-load tests on the PGT25 prototype. The measured power turbine shaft isentropic efficiency was more than 90%, inclusive of bearings and exhaust diffuser losses. The production configuration is expected to exhibit 2% better efficiency than the PGT25 power turbine. 3 figs.
