Three-wave effects in nonequilibrium solid-state plasma

Journal Article · · Sov. Phys. - Solid State (Engl. Transl.); (United States)

A study is made of the resonance interaction of helicons with acoustic vibrations in a semiconductor in static electric and magnetic fields. It is shown that, when a slow helicon has the highest frequency, an ''explosive'' instability occurs, i.e., the amplitudes of all the waves under study grow simultaneously. If the wave with the highest frequency is a fast helicon, the energies of the helicon and of a longitudinal acoustic wave are transformed to transverse acoustic waves.
