Conversion of longitudinal waves into transverse waves in a magnetoplasma

Journal Article · · Sov. Phys. - Tech. Phys. (Engl. Transl.), v. 20, no. 6, pp. 829-831
OSTI ID:4066872

A study is made of the interaction between a plasma wave and two transverse waves (a helicon and a high-frequency wave) in a magnetoplasma at a frequency close to the boundary of the region of transparency. The boundary problem is solved for a given low-frequency pump field, and the amplitudes of the high-frequency fields are determined. The energy of the plasma wave is completely converted into high-frequency wave energy. Estimates are given for a semiconductor plasma like InSb. (AIP)
