Study of extraction systems and the method of separation of trivalent transuranium elements Cm, Bk, and Cf

A refinement of the basic dependences of the extraction of curium, berkelium, and californium on the type of diluent and the nitric acid concentration in the aqueous phase was performed as applied to the extraction systems D2EHPA--HNO/sub 3/ and 2EHPPA--HNO/sub 3/. A method was developed for the calculation of three-fraction extraction of trivalent curium, berkelium, and californium, and the conditions for its accomplishment were selected. The separation process was conducted with trace amounts of curium, berkelium, and californium on an 18-day counter-current laboratory extractor. Good coincidence of the calculated and experimental data was achieved.
