Finite-temperature Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov calculations in rare earth nuclei

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. C; (United States)
The temperature dependence of deformations and pair gaps is calculated for /sup 148/Sm, /sup 170/Er, and /sup 186,188/Os. Increasing the temperature induces a variety of shape phase transitions: prolate and oblate to spherical, triaxial to oblate, and spherical to prolate. Heating also produces the superfluid to normal phase transition.
