ESR determination of rate constants for addition of metal carbonyl radicals to spin traps

This paper determines the rate constants for the addition of the radicals Re(Co)/sub 5/ (I), Mn(CO)/sub 5/ (II), CpFe(CO)/sub 2/ (III), and CpMo(CO)/sub 2/ (IV) to 2,4,6-tri-tert-butylnitrosobenzene (BNB), nitrosodurene (ND), 2-methyl-2-nitrosopropane (MNP), and alpha-phenyl-N-tert-butylnitrone (PBN). The timewise chain in concentration of the spin adducts of Re(CO)/sub 5/ radicals (I) with BNB is shown, formed by the decomposition of Re/sub 2/(CO)/sub 10/ by light in benzene in the presence of BNB; also shown is the effect of increasing concentrations of added CC1/sub 4/.
