Preparation and use of /sup 125/I-labeled synthetic human (15-Leu)gastrin 1-17-l for radioimmunoassay of conventional human gastrins

This report describes a method of radiodination and use of synthetic human (15-Leu)gastrin in radioimmunoassay for synthetic or naturally occurring human gastrin. Specific activity of the (/sup 125/I)monoiodo(15-Leu)gastrin was 45% higher than that obtained with conventional gastrin. Radioimmunoassay using a radiolabeled (15-Leu)gastrin trace was reliable between 10/sup -12/ and 10/sup -9/ molar concentrations of synthetic human or naturally occurring gastrin.
