Journal Article · · Energy Int.; (United States)

Rich in oil, gas, and uranium resources, Western Australia is attracting European and Asian companies interested in joint-venture arrangements or associations with local groups. Large amounts of energy are consumed in Western Australia by the transport, mining, and mineral-processing projects, which will be expanding with the state's economic development. Among the proposals are the North West Shelf gas project and pipeline, greater use of Collie coal, uranium mining, and solar energy research. The Australian government is providing tax and other incentives. (DCK)
