North-west Shelf gas for Western Australia

Energy demand in Western Australia far exceeds the level that can be met from indigenous fossil-fuel reserves and will increase with developments in the industrial sector. As wll as liquefied natural gas exports, a major pipeline project to bring natural gas from Dampier to Perth will further exploit the Northwest shelf reserves. Gas development will reduce Australia's dependence on imported oil, provide employment, broaden industrial opportunities, and increase tax revenues.
