Simple sequence repeat microsatellite polymorphisms are extremely useful markers for resolutional enhancement of human genetic linkage maps due to the existence of multiple alleles and a high degree of heterozygosity. The authors have identified and characterized two polymorphic CA-dinucleotide repeats and have determined their positional assignment on the X chromosome by genetic and physical mapping. 14 refs., 1 tab.
