A discussion of the LNG terminals in Western Europe covers the Belgian terminal of Distrigaz at Zebrugge for receiving LNG from Arzew, Alger., via two 125,000 cu m LNG tankers, with storage for 240,000 cu m of LNG and regasification facilities which provide for blending the gas with nitrogen to make it identical with gas imported by pipeline from the Netherlands; the Spanish terminal at Barcelona for receiving LNG from Libya, which fractionates regasified material to separate natural gas liquids; the French terminal of Gaz de France at Le Havre which began receiving LNG from Arzew in 1964; the French terminal of Gaz de France at Fos-Sur-Mer put into operation in 1973 to receive LNG from Skikda, Alger.; the Italian terminal of SNAM at Panigaglia, which began importing LNG from Libya in 1971; and later contracts for supply of LNG from Algeria: to Zebrugge from Arzew; to Barcelona from Skikda; and to a new French terminal at Montoir de Bretagne from Arzew.
