Process and apparatus for split feed of spent catalyst to high efficiency catalyst regenerator
This patent describes a fluidized catalytic cracking process for catalytic cracking of a heavy hydrocarbon feed. It comprises hydrocarbons having a boiling point above about 650{degrees} F to lighter products by contact of the heavy feed with a source of hot, regenerated catalytic cracking catalyst and wherein the spent catalyst is stripped, and the stripped, spent catalyst is regenerated by contact with oxygen or an oxygen containing gas at catalyst regeneration conditions in a high efficiency regenerator comprising a coke combustor having a dense bed of catalyst, a dilute phase transport riser mounted above the coke combustor, and a second fluidized bed of regenerated catalyst, and wherein the stripped catalyst is split into a first and second stream, the first stream is charged to the coke combustor and the second stream is charged to the coke combustor and the second stream is charged directly to the second fluidized bed without passage through the coke combustor or dilute phase transport riser.
