Vinyl ester coatings for pollution control equipment
Vinyl ester resins, which are usually a methyl acrylic acid extended bisphenol A epoxy, or bisphenol F novalac epoxy, or a urethane modified ester, have been used successfully in the following pollution control equipment: steel stack lining in power and industrial plants, at 150/sup 0/-450/sup 0/F; tank truck trailers for acid waste transport; duct transitions between scrubber and stack, operating at 180/sup 0/-420/sup 0/F with possible presence of dilute acid; wet gas scrubbers containing both acid and alkali conditions with severe abrasion; and a waste neutralization vessel. The polymerization additives, physical and chemical properties of the coatings, types of screening tests, surface preparation, and methods of application are outlined.
