Installation and assessment of cool storage unitary rooftop unit
- Public Service Electric and Gas Co., Newark, NJ (USA)
Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE and G) participated in the installation and evaluation of the first prototype rooftop cool storage HVAC unit in Rahway, New Jersey in 1986--1987. This site wa selected because the building roof could support the storage tank and the HVAC unit without any structural changes or roof reinforcement. Also, the site did not require any changes in the existing utility electric service. This paper describes PSE and G's experience during installation and assessment of this rooftop cool storage unit. An initial result of the test was that this prototype could be a viable option for small commercial customers. This paper also describes the testing, maintenance, and customer reaction.
