This article provides an overview of the proper application and installation of rooftop HVAC equipment as well as descriptions of the basic equipment types, options that are available, capacities, and unit construction. Rooftop HVAC units have evolved from the least cost solution to heating, ventilating, and air conditioning a building into a viable solution for myriad environmental challenges. The current offerings of packaged HVAC equipment has expanded to incorporate technology once reserved for custom and more expensive field-erected HVAC systems.
