A solid extractant based on D2EHPA is used for preconcentration and separation of beryllium from interfering elements in its determination in different natural and industrial materials. Beryllium was determined by luminescence or by photometric method, using chlorophosphonazo R (4-(4-chloro-2-phosphonophenyl)azo)-3-hydroxy-2,7-naphthalendisulfonic acid) as reagents. It is shown that beryllium can be separated from other elements on a solid extractant under both dynamic and static conditions by stirring the solution with a magnetic stirrer or by shaking the solution with the extractant. It was found that under optimal absorption conditions of beryllium Al, Co(II), Ni, Cr(III), Zn, Pb, Mn(II), Re(VII), Ba, Ca, Mo, Fe(II), Nb(V), and Ta(V) are practically not extracted by the solid extractant and their presence does not influence the behavior of beryllium at pH 2-3. A determination of beryllium in natural waters is also performed.
