A series of low-cost (under $1 million) conservation measures has saved Phoenix, Arizona over $2 million since 1978. Most of the projects paid for themselves in less than a year. A walk-through audit of the city's 250 buildings led to a four-phase program of data collection, building surveys, in-depth audits and analyses, and implementation of measures that would reduce heating, cooling, and lighting costs. The Assocation of Energy Engineers named Phoenix energy specialist Darshan Teji the 1982 Energy Manager of the Year. (DCK)
