Designers improve jig efficiency

Two types of jig, Baum and Batac, dominate the market, and in the US they are supplied by 3 manufacturers. Recent developments to improve the efficiency of operation are described. McNally Pittsburg use 1 1/4 in. fingers on multiple refuse gates on Baum jigs, while Jeffrey Manufacturing install automated controls and use rotary, sealed refuse gates. Four types of Batac jig are manufactured and Humboldt Wedag have developed a slurry jig to recover clean coal of 2.5 to 0.1 mm, using a feldspar bed.
