USA plant tests new fine coal deduster concept. [Dedusters for removing coal fines before wet cleaning]
A new centrifugal deduster for removing the bulk of minus 0.5 millimeter dry fines before wet washing is being successfully applied at the Lady Jane preparation plant, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania. The deduster has considerably lessened the handling of wet slurry, and has considerably decreased moisture in the plant product. The plant feed belt conveyor discharges into the centrifugal deduster. The deduster coarse product is then wetted and cleaned in a Humboldt-Wedag Batac jig. The dust product from the deduster bypasses the wet treatment and re-combines with the plant clean coal product. The wet fines (minus 0.5 millimeters) from the Batac jig pass to an Enviro-Clear thickener, where the underflow is sent to a vacuum filter. This product joins the dry dust and the centrifuged coarser coal. The Wedag Deduster (Humboldt-Wedag), also called a centrifugal classifier, is of relatively new design, and is in common use in Germany and elsewhere in Europe.
