New techniques for smokeless charging of moist coal will improve working conditions on top of oven batteries, will increase a number of technical and economic parameters and seem likely to prevent any outbursts during charging. A new system is described. Initial trials at the Khar'kov Experimental Coking Plant have demonstrated its ability to handle coal with moisture content of 9-10%. (5 refs.)
