Light meson spectroscopy: The D(1285) (f/sub 1/ (1285)) and E/iota(1420) (f/sub 1/ (1420), /eta/ (1440))

The K/sup +/K/sup 0/..pi../sup -/state has been produced by ..pi../sup -/,K/sup -/ and /bar char/p beams at beam momenta of about 8 GeV/c. The ..pi../sup -/ and /bar char/p beam data show peaks at 1285 and 1420 MeV identified as the D(12185) and E/iota(1420). The K/sup -/ beam data does not show any K/sup +/K/sup 0/..pi../sup -/ peaks. A partial wave analysis of the ..pi../sup -/ beam data show evidence of J/sup PG/ = 1/sup + +/ resonance at 1285 MeV together with a small 0/sup - +/ peak. The 1420 MeV peak is mainly a 0/sup - +/resonance with a small amount of 1/sup + +/. There is an indication of a 1/sup + -/ state at 1420 MeV. Also observed is a peak at a mass of 1512 MeV. 6 refs., 7 figs.
