An experimental determination of the extent of movement of the coke cake from the oven wall during the coking of preheated charges

Journal Article · · Coke Chem. USSR (Engl. Transl.); (United States)

When coking a preheated charge, the movement of the coke cake away from the oven wall is 18-20% greater than when coking moist charges. For charges of coal types from the Kuznetsk Coalfield, this movement is 6.5-7.0 mm, which is quite sufficient for normal pushing of the cake. When coking charges of Kuznetsk coal, the movement of the coke cake begins long before the merging of the plastic layers. The magnitude of movement of the cake depends on the plastic state of the coking charge and, within certain limits, may be regulated by changing the composition, comminution, and temperature of the preheated charge.
