Upper limit on the isovector parity-violating decay width of the 0/sup +/ T = 1 state of /sup 6/Li

A search has been made for a resonance in the /sup 2/H(..cap alpha..,..gamma..) /sup 6/Li capture-reaction cross section at the energy corresponding to the 0/sup +/, T = 1, 3.56-MeV state of /sup 6/Li. None was found, and an upper limit of 6.5 x 10/sup -7/ eV was set on the parity-forbidden ..cap alpha.. width at the 90% confidence level. This limit is three orders of magnitude smaller than the best previous measurement.
