A new experiment is proposed in which very great sensitivity in observing a parity-forbidden decay into heavy particles can be achieved. The idea is to look for the parity-forbidden decay of the 3.56-MeV, 0/sup +/, T = 1 state of /sup 6/Li into an alpha particle and a deuteron, the investigated /sup 6/Li state being populated in a resonance process. The general scheme of the reaction is as follows: /sup 9/Be+p..-->../sup 10/B(8.89 MeV, T = 1)..--> cap alpha..+/sup 6/Li(3.56) ..--> cap alpha..+..cap alpha..+d. The properties of the /sup 10/B resonance are such that a high yield of /sup 6/Li nuclei in the 3.56-MeV state can be obtained by bombarding a hydrogen target with /sup 9/Be ions, and the entire experiment can be carried through using a cyclotron having the standard resolution.
