Lifetime measurements and multiple Coulomb excitation in /sup 162/Dy

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev., C; (United States)
Rotational states up to spin 12/sup +/ in /sup 162/Dy have been Coulomb excited by 148.6 MeV /sup 40/Ar/sup 8 +/ ions. The half-lives of the 4/sup +/, 6/sup +/, and 8 /sup +/ states were measured by the Doppler-shift recoil-distance method and were found to be 132 +- 6, 18.4 +- 1.0, and 4.6 +- 0.3 ps, respectively. In addition, relative Coulomb excitation probabilities up through the 12/sup +/ member in the ground-state band were measured. All B(E2) values are in good agreement with rotational model expectations except for the 10/sup +/ state, and within 2sigma it is in agreement.
