Coulomb excitation studies of $sup 160$Dy, $sup 162$Dy, and $sup 164$Dy
Coulomb excitation measurements with /sup 16/O and /sup 4/He projectiles were performed on /sup 160/Dy, /sup 162/Dy and /sup 164/Dy. The ground-state rotational bands up through the 8/sup +/ member were observed in the /sup 16/O experiments. The measured eccitation probabilities yield B(E2; I yields I -- 2) values which are generally in agreement with the rotational predictions except for the 6/sup +/ yields 4/sup +/ values. In each nucleus, probabilities for exciting the 2/sup +/, 4/sup +/, and 6/sup +/ membe rs of the gamma -vibrational band were measured and compared with calculated results. The B(E2; O/sup +/ yields 2/sup +/ gamma ) values were measured in experiments involving /sup 4/He ions. The K/sup pi / 2/sup -/ octupole band wa s observed in each nucleus in addition to 1/sup -/ bands in /sup 160/Dy and /sup 162/Dy. Excitation probabilities were analyzed in an attempt to extract B(E3) values. (auth)
