This guide presents a method for identifying those structures, systems and components of light-water-cooled reactors which should be protected from the effects of a Design Basis Tornado (cf. Regulatory Guide 1.76) and remain functional. Pertinent regulations are contained in Criterion 2 of 10 CFR Part 50, Appendix A. Input has been provided by the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safe guards.
