Binding assays for epidermal growth factor

Experimental details are presented for measuring the interaction of radiolabelled epidermal growth factor ((/sup 125/I)EGF) with its receptor on intact cells, in crude membrane preparations, and in detergent-solubilized receptor preparations. The interaction of (/sup 125/I)EGF with intact cells can be used to derive information about receptor activity under various physiologic conditions and to study the process of hormone-receptor complex internalization and degradation.
