The spermatogenic epithelium is one of the most radiosensitive tissues of the organism. It is known that ionizing radiation inhibits reproduction and development of germ cells, inducing structural and functional disturbances and chromosomal aberrations in them, as well as destruction. The use of radioprotective agents is one possibility for preventing or attenuating the reaction to radiation. The protective agents known for their high efficacy in protecting the body or some vital tissues were found to be considerably less effective with regard to germ cells.
