Alpha decay of neutron resonance states in deformed nuclei

The statistical approach is used to develop a method for obtaining the ..cap alpha..-particle strength functions S/sub ..cap alpha../ of neutron resonances for deformed nuclei. Analysis of the experimental data on the reaction (n,..cap alpha..) on the nuclei /sup 155/Gd, /sup 171/Yb, and /sup 177/Hf has allowed us to improve the agreement on the values of S/sub ..cap alpha../ for deformed and spherical nuclei. It is concluded that the model of the ''black'' nucleus is applicable for describing the interaction of ..cap alpha.. particles with heavy nuclei.
