More of the same on acid rain

The US government administration's environmental policies in relation to acid rain are discussed. In the FY 1985 budget proposal, President Reagan has opted for a doubling of funds for acid rain research, but no controls. The head of EPA outlined some of the projects in the proposed $55.5 million federal research effort. These include a study of long-term trends of both acid deposition and ecosystem damage, an extensive survey of lake quality, expanded monitoring of wet deposition, a new program to monitor dry deposition, a study of forest effects, and research on atmospheric transport of pollutants.
