Another firm proposes West Coast LNG terminal

Southern California LNG Terminal has asked the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for authority to build and operate an LNG terminal at Deer Canyon in southern California. The terminal capacity would initially be 1.3 billion cu ft/day of gas with a peaking capacity of an additional 300 million, with potential expansion to 5 billion with a peaking capacity of an additional 1 billion. Southern Calfornia LNG has claimed assured sources of 5 billion cu ft/day of LNG from Ecuador, 1.5 trillion from Saudi Arabia, and 546 million from Indonesia. The project is in competition with Western LNG Terminal Associates' proposal for an LNG terminal at Point Conception, Calif.
