A huge new cogeneration plant for Houston

We will not see many new base load power generating plants constructed during the next few years. Endless regulatory delays, high cost, interest rates, and excess capacity all militate against big utility construction programs. In those places where demand continues to grow, owners and engineers have developed imaginative ways to generate power at low cost. One such project is the Bayou Cogeneration Plant now under construction at the Bayport Industrial Complex near Houston, Texas. This plant will produce electricity and steam late this year. It begins full load operation by the middle of 1985.
