Alternative financing plans address solar payback fears: 3 new plans offered

Journal Article · · Energy User News; (United States)

Four solar technology firms now offer alternative financing arrangements that require no capital outlay. The user has the option of purchasing the equipment from the vendor or third-party investor at the end of the contract. Joining Luz Engineering in offering these plans are Solar King Corp., Bioenergy Systems Inc., and Meenan Solar. The companies offer three options after financing the equipment and its installation at the end-user's site: the user buys solar power from the investor or vendor at a price lower than conventional energy sources; a shared-savings plan in which users share energy savings with the investor; or the user makes lease payments for a given period. Examples of each option illustrate how they work. (DCK)
