We have investigated experimentally two-particle correlations of protons emitted with nearly equal momenta from ..cap alpha..+/sup 12/C..-->..kp+X(k = 2, 3, ...) collisions at primary momentum per nucleon p/sub ..cap alpha..//A = 4.2 GeV/c. In order to estimate the dimensions of the proton-emission region we have compared the correlations with the theoretical functions describing two-proton correlations. The magnitude of the radius of the emission region decreases with increase of the momenta as well as of the transverse momenta of the emitted protons. We have found that for fast protons (pgreater than or equal to0.3 GeV/c) the radius of the emission region is comparable with the radius of the /sup 12/C nucleus, and for slow protons (p<0.3 GeV/c) it is significantly larger.
