Two-proton correlations and the size of the region of proton emission in pTa interactions at momentum 10 GeV/c

Two-particle correlations of protons emitted with about the same momenta were investigated in pTa interactions at the initial momentum 10 GeV/c with the purpose to determine the size of the region of their emission. The results obtained were compared with the results of analysis of the two-proton correlations in the interactions of light nuclei (A = p, d, ..cap alpha.., and C) with carbon nuclei. For pairs of protons with

= ( (1)/(2) chemically bondp/sub 1/+p/sub 2/chemically bond)>0.25 GeV/c the radius of the emission region is comparable with the radius of the tantalum nucleus: the /sup 1//sup ///sup 2/ values decrease with increase of the

/sub min/ values. As a result of comparison of the emission-region radii of protons for pTa and AC interactions, it turned out that for

/sub min/ approx. >0.4 GeV/c these radii are less than the radii of the target nuclei and are the same for the two types of interaction.
