The authors comparatively investigate the flame spraying of a boron-silicon alloy onto a chromium-nickel steel from a structural, diffusional, and thermal viewpoint, assessing the various effects of the three environments of a furnace, a gas flame, and a plasma on the ultimate porosity, microhardness, microstructure, adhesion, service life, and wear and corrosion resistance of the coating.
