Union on stream with new production

Union Oil Co. of California has begun production from a pair of new platforms in the Santa Barbara Channel. The platforms set a pair of records. Platform Gilda in the Santa Clara offshore field 10 miles west of Oxnard has slots for more wells than any other platform in the world. The platform has 96 shots, or 16 more than the previous record-holder, Shell Oil Co.'s platform Ellen in Beta offshore field in San Pedro Bay. Platform Gina in Hueneme offshore field 4 miles west of Port Hueneme has slots for 15 wells, which is the smallest number of slots for any platform off California. Statistics on the production capabilities of these platforms are given.
