Another firm to join Alberta gas export bid
Alberta and Southern Gas Ltd. has joined Pan-Alberta Gas Ltd. in a bid to export 1.04 billion cu ft/day of natural gas to the U.S. Alberta and Southern, which will provide 200,000 cu ft/day of the gas, has already received export approval from Alberta and federal regulatory bodies. G. W. Cameron, Pan-Alberta president, hopes to have Alberta and federal approvals for the total export volume by the end of 1978, with sales to U.S. customers beginning in 1980 for a six-year period. Southern California would get 240 million cu ft/day with the balance of 800 million cu ft/day going to eastern, southern, and midwestern states. The companies have export contracts with Northwest Alaskan Pipeline Corp. The export depends upon construction of new pipeline facilities that would form the southern leg of the Alaska Highway gas pipeline. According to a spokesman for Northwest Alaskan Pipeline, the company will take all the gas Alberta is willing to sell.
