Trans-Canada Pipe Lines Ltd. will consider joining Pan-Alberta Gas Ltd. in applying to the Canada National Energy Board (NEB) for authority to export gas to the U.S. Trans-Canada had sought to export 1.1 trillion cu ft of natural gas from Alberta to the U.S. in a bid that was thought to be in conflict with the Alaska Highway project. Pan-Alberta has applied to export 6.4 trillion cu ft of gas, 70% of which has already been committed to Northwest Alaskan Pipeline Co. The new arrangement would merge the export bids of Trans-Canada and Pan-Alberta, with the gas to be carried through Trans-Canada's existing facilities until the 1117 mi northern border segment of the Alaska Highway line is completed.
