This well-drilling equipment of the percussion or cable operated type can be run through well tubing to deepen and enlarge the well bore below the lower end of the tubing. The drill bit has 2 cutter sections which are attached to the lower end of the tool so that they can swing laterally into in-and-out positions of the body of the tool. A vertically movable plunger is located in the barrel of the tool and has one or more annular seals to form a piston in the barrel. By repeated lifting and dropping of the tool by manipulation of the wire line to which the tool is attached, the cutter sections are forced outward after leaving the lower end of the tubing to drill a larger hole than that of the tubing. An upward pull on the cable will bring the bit cutters back into the tubing. (2 claims)
