Well bore cleaning tool

Patent ·
OSTI ID:7056790

This is a well-bore cleaning tool for cutting away, breaking down and removing undesirable accumulations or deposits of sand and other objectionable matter from a well bore. The tool consists of a number of axially connected tubes or casings, at the lower end of which is a hollow, internally tapered cutting bit which cuts away and breaks down deposits of sand, rock, or other foreign matter when the tool is vertically reciprocated in the well bore. The hollow interior of the tool provides a chamber into which the loosened accumulations may be drawn by the suction of a piston-like pump. A 1-way valve is placed between the drill bit and the hollow chamber. The pump is operated by a weighted plunger moved within the well bore by a cable. This plunger has stems which slide through passages in suction sleeves, whose outer surfaces slide along the inner surface of the hollow chamber. Ports or passages in the stems operate to pass fluid during the lowering and pumping operations. (8 claims)
