Field hearings in Bozeman, Montana, Rochester, Minnesota, and Washington, DC examined the problem of ground water contamination, its causes and possible remedies, and the need for laws aimed specifically at preserving ground water quality. Regional differences in hydrogeological formations and nonpoint sources of runoff complicate the problem of developing comprehensive policies. The witnesses include experts in engineering, hydrology, environmental quality, health and safety, hazardous wastes, and industry. Additional material submitted for the record follows the testimony of each of the five days of hearings.
