We calculate the low-energy amplitudes qq..-->..qq and qq-bar..-->..qq-bar (where q = u, d, s) of the interaction of dressed quarks in the framework of the N/D dispersion method by means of an iterative bootstrap procedure with two types of bare point interaction: with the quantum numbers of a gluon and of a white isosinglet pseudoscalar meson. We determine the masses of the lowest mesons (J/sup P/ = 0/sup -/,1/sup -/, and 0/sup +/) and their quark content (the mixing angles). The transition amplitudes satisfy the Okubo-Zweig-Iitzuka rule. In the colored meson channel we obtain a bound state which is a constituent gluon with a mass M/sub g/ = 0.7 GeV. The amplitudes have virtual 3-bar/sub c/ diquark levels with J/sup P/ = 0/sup +/,1/sup +/, and 0/sup -/. The resulting interaction of the dressed quarks turns out to be effectively short-range.
