Measurement of the asymmetry in photoproduction of. pi. /sup 0/ mesons in the resonance region

The asymmetry of the cross section has been measured in photoproduction of ..pi../sup 0/ mesons by polarized photons in the energy interval E/sub ..gamma../=0.8--1.3 GeV at a c.m.s. angle theta*/sub gammapi/=60/sup 0/. The measurements indicate existence of a peak in the asymmetry for an angle theta*/sub gammapi/=60/sup 0/ in the angular distribution of the asymmetry.
